History of the Kelowna Seventh-day
Adventist Church |
| The Kelowna Seventh-day Adventist Church began in the early 1940's when a few members met in homes for the Sabbath School and worship services. By November 1946 the church was officially organized with 25 charter members even though they did not have a permanent meeting place. Services were held in the Orange Hall on Bernard Street, and the Orchard City Club Hall until 1953. At this time a church was purchased at Richter and Lawson Streets. This remained
their place of worship from December 1953 until 1978. The growing congregation of 100 needed larger facilities for their worship needs
so by 1974 two acres were purchased at the corner of Springfield
Road and Gordon Drive. The ground breaking ceremony for their present building
was on July 5, 1977 and the official opening took place on November 25, 1978. Many people volunteered their time and expertise to complete this attractive building.
The Lord be praised for guiding the members of the Kelowna SDA Church through these many years. |
